Juxtaposition: Use something to describe something else

During last week lecture, we were told to write poems on love and men/women based on other stuff like red chilli and mortar and pastel.

So here is my take on them...

Love= Chilli

Love is like eating hot chilli
It makes my head sweat.
Because I tend to think a lot of things
Things to express to you who is precious to me.

Men=Mortar & Pastel

Men are like mortar and pastel
They beat other men up
When they hurt his woman

Life=Credit Cards

Life is like swiping credit cards.
It is limitless,
But we need to be cautious.
Because too many swipes,
will eventually ruin our lives.

Men= Gold fish wearing a shark fin on its head

Men are like sharks.
They look intimidating on the surface.
But once you get to know them,
they are like goldfish.
Very simple minded and tends to forget,
but they have a heart of gold
That we women are glad to have.

Juxtaposition

During last week class we were told to write these down;

1 Flower
2 Lightning
3 Ice
4 Light
5 Fire
6 Duck
7 Dog
8 Oil
9 Leave
0 Fly

0 Head
9 Rain
8 Wood
7 Tree
6 Spider
5 Root
4 Mountain
3 Wind
2 Rock
1 Water

 Then, we were told to pick 3 different numbers from 0 to 99. If it is a single digit number, then the number should be like this; 01, 02, 03 etc

I picked the number 07, 08 and 27.

With the numbers that I picked, I have to form a word according to the list of words given. Start from the blue-written words to the red.

So;
07 – Fly, Tree
08 – Fly, Wood
27 – Lightning, Tree

With those words, I have to form a sentence that somewhat makes sense.

07 – A bird fly through a tree.
08 – Superman fly over a stack of wood.
27 – A lightning struck a tree.

With those sentences I have to create images that shows exactly what the sentences means;

Then, we have to create images that represents FlyWood, FlyTree and LightningTree.

(pictures will be uploaded soon)

My Definition of Creativity

What is CREATIVITY ? And where does creativity come from? Are people born naturally creative? I don’t believe so. I think creativity, like many things is more nurture than nature.Why? I guess my own creativity started as an escape in childhood and from reality of actual living. I guess I’m not the first person in the world to find life difficult sometimes and drawing the world and its people was my way, though not consciously, of studying the world objectively and with some detachment. I then found that this, was a whole world in itself, one of which I was in charge and that was almost completely limitless. And the creative process is like that, you start off at the beginning without necessarily knowing what is at the end.

Being creative allows you to see the world in a different way, it teaches you to be observant and intuitive and make connections between things where others would not.  This is what i call CREATIVITY.

Creativity to me?

Personally, i think creativity is a combination of two words. "create" + "activity" = CREATIVITY.
Of course everyone have their own ways of defining it. I do think it is more than about creating, it could be about anything. It can be in anything, it could be here, it could be there, it could be anywhere, everywhere :)

As we grow older, sometimes we forget how to be creative. And the older we get, the more it deteriorates. This is because we are taught to be sensible. Well the beauty about being creative is it does not have to be sensible AT ALL.

Just to share a story about my 5 year old cousin, Aleeya. I find her odd actually. But its fascinating how she thinks. So one day while I was spending some quality time with my family, my grandmother, aunts and cousins, Aleeya came along with a plastic bag of rambutans. So being the usual me, I grabbed it from her hands and thought I'd taste one. To my disappointment, it was a little cracked. So I took another one, unfortunately, that one was also cracked. So I checked the whole bag only to find that all the rambutans were cracked. So I asked,

Me : Why did you pick the bad ones?

Aleeya : I only picked the ones that smiles at me.

That's it. Creativity in children. And how they see everything so beautiful.
It didn't make sense and it does not have to.

That is how I see creativity.

what creativity is to me

Creativity to me is well of course, about creating. Not limited to creating 'things' but ANYTHING. Not limited to certain people, or just one person in a group, not limited to certain age, but EVERYONE. Not limited to some or certain places, but EVERYWHERE. And of course, creative or simple ideas can pop in your head ANYTIME. Spontaneous or not.

Most people say, "I'm not a creative person for I suck at drawing." "To be creative, you need talent more than skills. Gifted."
But I strongly believe that everyone in this world is creative.
What differs one from another is how well a person uses his imagination and how strong that person is to turn it into reality.

And yes, different people, different thoughts. You and I may not have the same definition for what creativity is.
But this is what creativity is to me. It is about creating, imagining and realizing how creative you are. Because creativity is everywhere and can be in thousands forms and thousands approaches.

p/s : I found a video on Youtube and thought of sharing with you, creative people. Enjoy :)

This is my favorite lines :

"Where ever it is, find it, grab it, manipulate it, and re-create it.
Make it your own way. Your special way.
Because creativity begins with you. It begins now. It begins here"

Definition of Creativity

There are many kind of definition the word 'Creativity' but basically people will associate a person's creativity with how willing is the person to create something new;create something that no one has ever thought of before, or simply when that person thinks outside of the box and comes up with great new idea.

But my definition of Creativity derived from the verb 'to create' thus Creativity means the will you have to create something; with or without emotions to expressed, to let people know how the world is viewed by you, to make the things you have in your mind to become a reality in any kind of form.

A person does not necessarily need to be innovative to be creative nor should they be judged by the creativity level to see if they are indeed  creative. A person's creativity is limitless if they are not oppressed by the ideal world. So, a person's creativity can be anything by just the form of creating something predictable or unpredictable like painting a masterpiece or simple solving a puzzle. The only time when the person is not creative is when the person is not doing anything.

So, creativity is basically, the person's will to create something.

what is creativity? [my definition of creativity]

Creativity is the ability to come up with an idea or to create a product through imaginative skills. To create something new you need a lot of imagination. People who are really into this see things differently from others. They even have their own perspective ways on how they view and interpret things. They also have the ability to understand the themes and the messages that is portray in paintings or drawings. In other words, they are special. They usually do not solve daily problems in a normal way. To me, creativity is not just how well you can draw or good at creating something. It is about how well you can create it in a very creative way, to make it unique and special. You are the only one who is capable of doing it because it is your own creation. Your own style. I think the most important part is that when it comes to creativity you need to be persistent. Not all people have the determination to turn their dream into reality and it does take time to do so. The appreciation of the artworks and designs you have done and the acceptance of others is really a big thing for this special type of group of people. Nowadays,to be one of the best and be really good in art is really challenging. You need a lot of creativity if you want to be that good. But i believe if you preserved well and keep on believing that you can do it , you will get there. If you believe you can achieve.
